Alsof het winnen van 'Game of the Year' bij de Game Awards niet genoeg was om de kritiek te ontvangen The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is genomineerd om de titel opnieuw te winnen tijdens de SXSW Gaming Awards 2016.
Het is tegen bloodborne, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain en Undertale. Andere categorieën zijn Tafelblad en Mobile Game of the Year, prijzen voor Excellence in Gameplay, Art and Animation en prijzen voor het Meest Waardevolle Esports Team en de Meest Onderhoudende Online Persoonlijkheid.
SXSW zal, zoals gebruikelijk, plaatsvinden in Austin, Texas tussen 11 en 20 maart 2016 met de Gaming Awards die worden gehouden op de 19e in Hilton Austin. Het evenement is volledig open voor het publiek en is gratis zodat iedereen de ceremonie kan meemaken.
